About this stay

Amanek's advantage is vertical: upper-floor rooms look out toward the mountain ridgeline that frames Asahikawa on clear days, a view most of the flatter downtown hotels cannot offer. The bathhouse downstairs is a straightforward public bath rather than a full rotenburo, but it does the job after a day of sightseeing in a city where winter temperatures drop hard. Two minutes from Asahikawa Ekimae puts the station, tram stops and Heiwa dori's shops within easy reach. Rooms themselves are understated, built for sleeping and taking in the view rather than lounging, and breakfast is included for an early start. Accessible rooms are part of the inventory, and the hotel sits close enough to the tram network that a mountain-view stay never comes at the cost of central access.

Our take

This works for a traveller who wants a mountain view without paying resort prices, five minutes from the station area, and is fine with a modest bathhouse rather than an elaborate onsen. It falls short for anyone wanting an outdoor bath or a design-forward room, both of which are absent here. Ask for an upper floor specifically, since the view is the entire reason to pick this over a similarly priced hotel nearby.

  • Request an upper-floor room at check-in, the mountain view depends entirely on the floor
  • Visit the bathhouse before 8pm if you want it quiet, it gets busier after dinner
  • Walk the five minutes to Heiwa dori for dinner options rather than relying on the hotel area

Why we love it

  • Mountain views from upper floors
  • Two minutes from Asahikawa Ekimae
  • On-site bathhouse
  • Breakfast included
Why guests love it

The view from the upper floor was the deciding factor, a genuine line of mountains rather than the usual rooftop-and-parking-lot outlook most central hotels offer. The bathhouse was modest next to some of the bigger onsen hotels in town, but it was warm and quiet after 8pm. Being two minutes from Asahikawa Ekimae made every evening walk into town short, even in the cold. This felt like the right trade for anyone who cares more about the window than the bath.
