About this stay

Premier Hotel Cabin packs an unusual amount into a mid-range hotel: an onsen spa with an open-air bath and sauna, a buffet restaurant, a dedicated sushi bar and a karaoke room, all one minute from the 1-jo Showa-dori tram stop. Rooms stay warm and simple, clearly not the point of the stay when the ground floor offers a full evening's entertainment. Six minutes from Heiwa dori's shopping arcade, it works equally well as a base for exploring on foot or for staying in entirely, given how much is on site. The open-air bath is the standout, a genuine outdoor soak rather than an indoor-only setup. Free Wi-Fi and paid parking round out the practical side, and kid-friendly rooms mean the entertainment lineup, sushi bar and karaoke included, works for a family evening as much as a group of friends.

Our take

This is a strong pick for a traveller who wants the onsen ritual and an entertaining evening, karaoke and sushi included, without leaving the building. It suits families and small groups better than a couple seeking quiet, given the karaoke room and buffet setup. Anyone wanting a minimalist or design-forward stay should look elsewhere; the appeal here is variety, not aesthetics.

  • Reserve the sushi bar ahead if travelling on a weekend, it books out fast
  • Try the open-air bath at night, the cold air against the hot water is the whole point in winter
  • Keep the karaoke room booking short, thirty minutes is plenty before the queue builds

Why we love it

  • Open-air onsen bath
  • On-site sushi bar and buffet
  • Karaoke room on site
  • One minute from the tram stop
Why guests love it

The open-air bath was the highlight, steam rising into cold Hokkaido air in a way no indoor onsen replicates. Having a sushi bar and a buffet in the same building removed any need to plan dinner, which was welcome after a full day out in the cold. The karaoke room turned into an unplanned late addition to the evening, more fun than expected for a mid-range hotel. Rooms were plain but that was clearly not where the budget went; the ground floor did all the work.
