Yokosuka, Yokosuka
Tatami Room

About this stay

Uraga sits several Keikyu stops south of the Yokosuka port district, which is the trade the inn asks you to make: about twenty-three kilometres to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura and fifty-three to Tokyo Haneda Airport, in exchange for a waterfront that goes quiet in the evening. Rooms are tatami, air-conditioned, with a balcony, a sea view, linen, slippers and a private bathroom carrying a bidet, a shower and free toiletries. There is no communal onsen. A kitchen with kitchenware, a microwave, a refrigerator and a washing machine sits behind the rooms, which is what makes a stay of several nights practical rather than merely possible. The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine across brunch, lunch and dinner in a traditional setting, with kosher and vegan options listed, and a coffee shop covers the afternoon. A terrace, daily housekeeping, luggage storage and free WiFi round it out.
