Free on-site private parking sets the terms here, because Shonan Kokusaimura sits on the western slopes rather than in the Yokosuka port district, about forty-eight kilometres from Tokyo Haneda Airport, thirteen from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura and thirty from Yokohama Marine Tower. Rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned, with private bathrooms carrying a bath, a shower, a hairdryer, free toiletries and slippers, plus a refrigerator and a flat-screen television. There is no communal bath. The outdoor side is the selling point: a garden and a terrace with BBQ facilities, which reads as a group weekend rather than a business overnight, and karaoke indoors for the hours after. Meeting and banquet facilities, luggage storage, a drinks vending machine, fax and photocopying, heating and internet services fill out a property that clearly hosts gatherings as often as it hosts couples.
