Our take
HOTEL MYSTAYS Kiyosumi Shirakawa suits travellers who want independence: each studio has a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator and kettle, and coin laundry is on site. I would book it for a week or more in Tokyo, based in the calmer Koto area a six-minute walk from Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station. An 8.7 from more than 900 reviews confirms the apartment-style formula works well.
- Utilise the kitchenette to save on dining out, especially for breakfast or simple dinners.
- Take advantage of the coin-operated laundry facilities for longer trips, keeping your packing light.
- Explore the local Kiyosumi-Shirakawa area for its cafes and gardens before heading to the more famous tourist spots.
