Our take
Kyoto ITOYA Hotel Mon earns a remarkable 9.5 from almost 1,000 reviews with touches rarely found at 3 stars: garden views, a patio with an outdoor fireplace and breakfast served in the room. I would book it for a few nights in central Kyoto when a quieter atmosphere matters. The concierge helps with plans, though facilities beyond these extras are limited.
