About this stay

Akita Castle Hotel is a seven-minute walk from JR Akita Station and offers four dining options on site, more restaurant variety than almost any other hotel in the city, alongside a 24-hour convenience store, a nail salon and other shops for guests who want everything within the building. Rooms are carpeted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge, plus an electric kettle, and the private bathroom includes a bath tub and free toiletries. Room service meals are available around the clock, and a laundry service covers longer stays at an extra cost, with free luggage storage included at the front desk. Senshu Park is a five-minute walk away, among the closest hotel-to-park distances in the city, and the on-site Japanese restaurant Kurumaya serves seasonal dishes alongside a separate option for Chinese meals. Akita Airport is a thirty to forty-minute drive or limousine bus ride, making this more of a station-focused than airport-focused choice.

Our take

With four dining options, on-site shops and a five-minute walk to Senshu Park, this hotel offers more genuine variety and convenience than most of Akita's business hotel cluster, without straying far from the station itself. It's a strong choice for a stay of several days where having options within the building, rather than having to plan every meal out, makes a real difference.

  • Try Kurumaya's seasonal Japanese dishes at least once, since the menu changes with what's fresh rather than running a fixed set
  • Walk to Senshu Park early in the morning, since it's only five minutes away and quietest before the day's visitors arrive
  • Use the on-site convenience store for late-night essentials rather than heading back out after dark

Why we love it

  • Four dining options on site, more than most hotels in the city
  • Five-minute walk to Senshu Park and the old castle grounds
  • On-site convenience store, nail salon and shops
  • Room service available around the clock
Why guests love it

We stayed three nights and genuinely used three of the four restaurants on site, which made evenings easy without needing to plan ahead every day. Kurumaya's seasonal menu was a highlight, and having Senshu Park just five minutes away meant we could fit in a walk most mornings before breakfast. The convenience store downstairs came in handy more than once for late-night snacks.
