Hotel Minatoya
About this stay
The choice between tatami (a Japanese-style room floored in woven straw mats, with futon bedding laid out at night) and a carpeted Western room with a standard bed puts Hotel Minatoya in an unusual spot for a 5-minute walk from the station. Either room type comes with a flat-screen TV, fridge and electric kettle, and the private bathroom includes a bathtub rather than just a shower. The large public bath is the real draw after checking in, a proper soak within reach without booking a ryokan across town. Free-use bikes make the castle and Hirome Market a short ride rather than a longer walk. That willingness to offer a proper tatami option at business-hotel pricing is unusual in this part of Kochi, and it is worth booking ahead for, since the traditional rooms are limited in number.
